Francesco Samson joined Quaero Capital SA on April 1st, 2017, as Group COO.
Francesco Samson started his career in 1990 with DuPont de Nemours in Geneva where he became head of sales of three products in Europe. He subsequently joined McKinsey in Geneva in 1996 where he focused on business development and restructuring related projects. From 1998 to 2004 he led the strategy for the EMEA region, building and leading two front office teams for the Citigroup Private Bank in Geneva. Francesco Samson then spent 10 years at EIM in Nyon, where he was Partner, Group COO and member of the Executive Committee, also overseeing business development and investment services. He joined Brevan Howard in 2014 as Head and COO of the Geneva office and a member of the Executive Committee of Brevan Howard Investment Products Limited in Jersey.
Fluent in French, Italian, English and German, Francesco Samson has an MSc from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (“EPFL”) in Lausanne, Switzerland, and an MBA from INSEAD in Paris with a major in Finance.
Marcus Tang joined Quaero Capital SA in 2013.
Marcus started his career in 2000 at Citco Fund Services in the Netherlands as a Fund Accountant, and later as Senior Account Manager. He was responsible for the administration of the largest fund of funds group from the Amsterdam office, as well the administration of various other investment strategies.
In 2007 Marcus joined 3A (Alternative Asset Advisors), the alternative investment division of banking group SYZ. At 3A he was responsible for the middle-office and liaison with the legal department, including setting-up of accounts and fund, NAV control and validation. After the conversion from 3A into SYZ Asset Management, Marcus became the Head of Operations and part of the Management Committee.
Tony Fernandes is London’s Head of Operations and Technology. He joined the firm in 2004 and became a Partner of Quaero Capital LLP in 2008. He is involved in the development, implementation and maintenance of the group’s extensive IT infrastructure as well as co-managing the London business from an operations standpoint.
Prior to joining the firm, Tony ran his own business programming and developing websites.
Aymeric Plassard joined QUAERO CAPITAL in 2018.
Aymeric started his career in 1999 in an audit and accountancy firm. In 2001 he joined CPS (former branch of PriceWaterhouseCoopers for a long-term mission) and was interim CFO of Sonauto (Porsche & Mitsubishi for France) for a year.
In 2002 he joined PAI Partners as financial officer in charge of two LBO funds (PAI LBO Fund (€653 million) and PAI Europe III (€1,8 billion)). He was involved in many of the fund’s flagship deals during this period.
In 2009 he joined Serge Weinberg’s team (Weinberg Capital Partners) as Chief Operating Officer for 7 years. In this role he was one of the leading players in the growth and diversification of the company which is active today in multiple private equity sectors.
Aymeric obtained the DECF diploma, the ICS Bégué exam and is a holder of the RCCI card delivered by the French authority AMF.
Christina Rancic joined QUAERO CAPITAL SA in 2005 as Head of HR, General Administration.
Christina has been with QUAERO CAPITAL SA since its inception and is responsible for HR, general administration and deals with bookkeeping and financial accounting on a part time basis.
Previous to this, Christina worked for 20 years with H&M Hennes & Mauritz in their head office in Geneva, where she held various positions including: Head of Personnel, Head of Accounting Department and Deputy General Manager. She had additional responsibility for external relations, e.g. professional organisations, government, unions and insurance firms. She contributed to the implementation of an IT system for the Accounting Department and was responsible for the monthly and annual closing of accounts.
Christina was also a board member between 2003-2020 and held the role of President during a 10-year tenure at COPRE, a Swiss Pension Scheme based in Geneva with assets under management exceeding CHF 3 billion.
Christina has a degree in Industrial and Commercial Studies specializing in finance from the University of Geneva. (1982).
Christine Didier joined QUAERO CAPITAL SA in 2004 with responsibility for Financial Accounting and bookkeeping.
From 1994 to 2004, Christine was involved in a variety of bookkeeping and administrative roles at the Private Bank Gadd & Cie.
Christine holds a Maturité Commerciale awarded in Geneva.
Luciana is the Financial Officer of Quaero Capital LLP having joined the firm in 2007 as a Middle Office Executive. In 2006 she qualified as an Accountant Technician with AAT in London.
Prior moving to the UK, Luciana gained 8 years’ experience in Private Banking in Brazil with Bradesco S.A.
Luciana is currently studying for Taxation Exams (ATT/CIOT).
Nathalie joined Quaero Capital SA in September 2015 as a member of the Client Services and Operations team.
Nathalie started her career in the bank industry, working in securities’ back-office and as an asset management assistant in different banks and financial institutions, both in Zurich and Geneva.
She holds a Swiss Federal Certificate of Capacity (CFC) in banking from UBS Geneva.
Khadija joined Quaero Capital SA in April 2021 as the person in charge of logistic and reception.
Khadija has had a long career in banking. Her last responsibility was as Executive assistant, Head of Reception and Logistic at Bank Syz SA, where she worked for over 20 years
She has experience in hotel management and hospitality.
Nick Stanfield joined Quaero Capital SA in 2017 as financial analyst.
Nick started his career at Hazlewoods LLP in the Cotswolds in England before moving to France and joining Brevan Howard as financial controller for the newly set up Geneva branch run out of Jersey. In 2013 Nick moved to Clarksons Platou shipbrokers as financial accountant before then moving to Hinduja Bank in 2015 as MIS officer to analyse the various revenues by client and relationship manager.
Nick qualified as an Associate Chartered Accountant (ICAEW) in England in 2010.
Adrian Bignell joined Quaero Capital LLP as Research Analyst in 2021.
Prior to starting at Quaero in May 2021, Adrian looked after the European smaller company funds at Invesco (started in 2003).
After successfully turning around the performance of the small caps, in 2008 he launched and ran the all-cap Invesco European Opportunities fund. On the back of strong performance, he had a Citywire AAA rating, won the ‘best fund over 3 years’ Lipper award in 2012 and was mentioned in the Tilney Bestinvest ‘Top 100 UK Managers’ in 2014 and 2015.
Prior to Invesco, after graduating from St Andrews University where he read French, Adrian worked at Cazenove where he ran the European smaller company fund and in 2001 was made partner.
He holds an MA (Honours) in French from St Andrews University.
